The Church/Revival

Joel 2:13 “Rend your heart
and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity.”

Luke 10:2 “He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'”

Thank God for calling us to turn back to Him when we stray. Thank Him for calling people who have never yet known Christ’s love to turn to Him.

Please pray:
• God in His mercy will pour out a spirit of repentance in Ottawa; that God’s people be the first to be awakened
• The Holy Spirit will move mightily in Ottawa and bring revival and transformation and a fresh outpouring of God’s power and presence in Ottawa
• Believers will follow Him prayerfully, trusting in His faithfulness and obeying Him
• Pastors and all clergy will be greatly strengthened in the Lord
• Christians will be bold and yet loving in sharing publicly the Biblical perspective and wisdom.
• Churches will reach many new people with the Good News
• The Church in Ottawa to be generous in serving vulnerable people
• That whose who walked away from their faith in God will return to the Lord
Take a moment to pray for one or two churches near your own. Pray for their pastors/clergy, by name if you can, for their strengthening and encouragement.

Public Authorities

Proverbs 28:2 “…but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.”

Proverbs 21:1 “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.”

Thank God for the public authorities we have, and that He hears our prayers for them.

Please pray :

The Light of God’s love and wisdom will shine on Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, City Council, all first responders, and those in authority over courts of law, schools, hospitals and health care, and detention centres.
• They will listen to Godly advisors around them, and show good will toward their peers.
• God will protect their home lives and their families.
• Public authorities – police and first responders – will receive healing from traumatic experiences in their work.
• Those who are in authority will respond to God’s salvation
• Ottawa area MPs, Mona Fortier (Ottawa-Vanier), David McGuinty (Ottawa South), Yasir Naqvi (Ottawa Centre), Anita Vandenbeld (Ottawa West-Nepean), Chanda Arya (Nepean), Pierre Poilievre (Carleton) Marie-France Lalonde (Orléans) will be surrounded by wise counsel and with “Daniels,” who can speak truth, wrapped in love. Deliver them from the temptation to please humans but to yearn to please God. May our MPs not look to human wisdom but seek God’s wisdom.

Take a moment to pray by name for your city councillor and any public authorities you know, for their peace, health and protection. You can use this tool to find your city councillor: Find My Councillor

Housing

Isaiah 58:7 “Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.”

Psalm 72:12-14 “For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.”

Galatians 2:10 “All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.”

Thank God that he will help us when we turn our hearts toward people experiencing homelessness.

Please pray:

  • The City of Ottawa will meet the target of 100,000 new residences in the next 10 years.

  • All levels of government will take steps to support affordable housing so that everyone has a place to call home.

  • Governments will streamline the approval process so more houses and apartments can be built.

  • Christians will encourage their elected representatives at all levels to deal with the housing crisis.

  • Christian missions in Ottawa will receive sufficient funds to provide shelter for homeless people currently living on city streets.

Take time to pray for those you know who are homeless or facing problems finding a place to live.

Workplaces

Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Colossians 4:6 “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

Thank God that he has given Christians the opportunity to lift up the LIGHT in their workplaces.

Please pray:

  • A growing number of believers will prioritize reaching out to their workmates with God’s love in their work lives.
  • Believers will pray for fellow workers and reach out with concern and acts of kindness to those who are hurting and need help.
  • Christians in the workplace will support each other through prayer and meeting together.
  • Christians will share the gospel with fellow workers as opportunities arise in the office, at lunch and elsewhere.

Take time to pray for people you know who are working.

Mental Health

Psalm 34:17-18 “The Lord hears his people when they call out to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

Psalm 40: 1-3 “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.”

Give thanks that God walks with us and rescues us in our deepest troubles.

    Please pray:
    • Christians will be channels of God’s love to those who are suffering from mental issues.
    • Wait times for care and counselling will greatly diminish, and no one in dire need will be turned away.
    • God will bring peace to those who are dealing with mental and emotional pressures.
    • Workers in high-pressure jobs will receive support and time to recover from mental concerns.
    • Christian counsellors and others in mental health jobs will see God at work in the people they counsel.

Remember to pray specifically for those you know are suffering severe emotional or mental problems.

    Unborn, Children, & Youth

Special thanks to Rev. Wendy Turpin of CityKidz Ottawa who provided the prayers and scriptures for today’s section.

Psalms 139: 13-14  “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

Isiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.”

    Please pray that God will:

    ·       Provide divine protection over the unborn children, shielding them with His love and safeguarding their lives with grace and mercy.
    ·       Draw children to His salvation and strengthen their faith, that they may abound in the fruits of the Spirit
    ·       Preserve their innocence and shield them from harmful influences, helping them grow in strength and courage
    ·       Protect their families, strengthen their relationships with love, and guide their parents with wisdom
    ·       God will be close to those suffering, especially those facing abuse, poverty, and illness, and for those who are in foster care, or who are experiencing homelessness.
    ·        Bless their education and future, filling them with wisdom and understanding
    ·       Protect their minds as they learn, surrounding them with teachers and mentors who inspire them to fulfill Your purpose
    ·       For children with special needs, we ask that You bring healing, grant them resilience, and fill them with Your peace
    ·       Lord, be with the missionaries, community workers, and caregivers, who are called to serve these precious ones in their various specialties, giving them compassion and strength as they serve

Remember to pray by name for the children and youth you know personally
